Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) One downtown business welcomed a break from work and filled its lobby with employees singing Christmas carols.

Employees of Security Mutual lined the staircase in red and green, and even holiday hats.

Songs were led by a fellow employee and musician.

The holiday treat welcomed families and friends to the main lobby.

Security Mutual has had caroling in its lobby for the past 18 years.

The Christmas cheer was accompanied by a check donation to the Red Cross for five thousand dollars.

"Our country and our communities are doing this 12 months out of the year. They are supporting their neighbors and helping out all year long, but it just seems to be really concentrated this time of the year," said Shelley Bierwiler with the Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Security Mutual has donated more than $20,000 to the American Red Cross since Superstorm Sandy has hit.

"They did arrange for a truck on their own with a driver and found the fuel and they drove it down to a relief center in metropolitan new york, so we're pretty proud of that," said Security Mutual CEO Bruce Boyea.

This money goes into the national disaster relief fund but will target Sandy relief and those in Newtown, Connecticut.
