Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Cars slipping and sliding as snow arrives just in time for evening commute.

The city of Binghamton is asking people to observe alternate street side parking even though that season ended on Friday.

It's asking people to park on alternate sides through Thursday as the weather moves through.

All cities and towns are asking people to park off street if they can so plows can clean the streets as efficiently as possible.

Binghamton city parks will be open through the storm for anyone wishing to park there.

The state Department of Transportation, and local municipalities, all say they have plenty of salt to handle the potential for icing overnight.

The DOT is advising people stay off the roads during this storm.

With temperatures expected to hover around freezing, they say smaller roads and bridges could be very icy overnight as they work on saturating the roads with salt.
