(WBNG Binghamton) Governor Andrew Cuomo announced eight job fairs will be held in six regions across the state this week, including one in the Southern Tier.
The 2014 Greater Binghamton Career Fair will take place on Friday, June 20. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the SUNY Broome Ice Center. The event will feature up to 50 businesses representing more than 500 job openings.

Career fairs will also be held this week in the Central Region, Mid-Hudson Valley, Long Island, New York City, and Western New York. Governor Cuomo said in 2012 and 2013, similar recruitment events put on by the Department of Labor helped 600 businesses target and hire nearly 33,000 individuals.
"As more businesses are creating jobs across the state, we want to connect job-seeking New Yorkers with employers looking to hire," Governor Cuomo said. "These career fairs have helped us capitalize on positive economic growth and a better business climate. I encourage all New Yorkers looking for a job to inquire at the next career fair being held in their region."
Another popular program for New York job seekers and business is Jobs Express, Governor Cuomo’s online database. The website currently lists more than 97,000 available positions. Cuomo said businesses using these services could save tens of thousands of dollars each year.
