Walton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Workers with special needs in a Delaware County not for profit program were visited by a Congressman while on the job.

Republican Congressman Chris Gibson was at the Resources for Institution center that offers classes and employment to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The work center is part of The Arc of Delaware County that serves more than 300 people with disabilities a day.

"This organization puts a focus on the individual. Both in terms of who they're serving, those who need that assistance, but also within their staff," said (R) Representative Chris Gibson, 20th District.

In the work center employees make manufactured goods and packaging that's shipped all over the world.

"Having spent some time here with the leadership, I really affiliate to the approach that they're taking, it's really similar to the approach I took in the Army when I was building teams," said Gibson.

Gibson adds that New York State has recognized their services and has asked the New York State workers who teach those with special needs to be trained by the staff at The Arc of Delaware County.
