Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A First Ward church gears up for a popular kid's Halloween party.

The First Ward Merchant's Association is in its fifth year of sponsoring the event.

Saint Michael's Church will host the party on Friday night, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Those attending can expect face painting, a raffle giveaway and lots of doughnuts.

The president of the Merchants Association said all are welcome to attend, especially the kids.

"A lot of these kids believe it or not don't even have a costume,"Barry Blakeslee said, "it's somewhere to go for somebody that doesn't have anything to do, and of course, it's all free"

Blakeslee is the owner of Blakeslee Restaurant Supply, a business that sponsors the Halloween party.

Blakeslee and Vice President Joseph Kovarik, are expecting up to 600 kids to attend this year.

Kovarik said it is always nice to watch the community come together.

"It Brings Binghamton alive," said Kovarik, "it brings Binghamton together and we need the community to come together."

Joseph Kovarik's business, Kovarik True Hardware, is also a sponsor for the party each year.
