Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A topic of much debate in the town of Union has come to a decision. The Greater Binghamton Sports Complex received approval from the planning board for three non-sports related outdoor events for next year.

Neighbors to the complex were concerned that outdoor events such as concerts and festivals could bring unwanted noise and commotion.

Owner and President of the Sports Complex Bahij Kashou said there are some restrictions in place for the outdoor events.

“The town board asked us to kind of monitor the noise so we are going to monitor it and make sure there is no loud music and things like that,” said Kashou.

Kashou said he is thankful for the approval and wants to use these events to benefit the community.

“We appreciated the approval and hopefully we will work with the neighbors so that the events become nice events for the neighborhood and for the area," said Kashou.

Kashou has ideas for the three events his complex has been granted. Those ideas include car shows, food festivals and family-friendly music festivals.
