St. Michael's Orthodox Christmas

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Orthodox Church observes this day January 7, 2013 to memorialize the birth of Jesus Christ.

Parishioners of St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Binghamton celebrated Mass for the holy day in the morning.

The Orthodox Catholic Church follows a different calendar than other churches.

While December 25 is observed as Christmas on the Gregorian Calendar but some Orthodox churches follow an older Julian calendar.

Christians believe Jesus was born to Mary on Christmas.

Poinsettias lined the alter in memory of those who have died.
