Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The big man in red paid a visit to boys and girls at the State Street Park on Saturday.

Santa Clause was there with Mrs. Clause and the elves at the Holiday Party.

The event was put on the the State Street Park Committee.

They said their goal is to put on positive programming in the park for children and families.

The kids had the chance to meet Santa, get a picture with him and tell him what they want for Christmas.

The children didn't leave empty handed.

"We're giving kids free books as a part of the event to promote some reading with children and families," said Chelsea Reome of Binghamton.

Reome said the more books in a home, the more time parents will spend with their children.

Around 250 books were donated by the Four County Library system for the event.
