Sticking with Your New Year's Resolution

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The calendar isn't the only thing that changes on New Year's Day.

The first day of the year is the most popular time of year for making personal changes.

Exercising more is one of the most popular New Year's resolutions.

It's a time where many people take to the gym to burn off all of that holiday food.

Once January 1 rolls around, local gyms start to see a lot of new members.

Riverwalk Athletic Club General Manager, Kristina Delviscio said, "It's an exciting time, and I look forward to seeing a lot of new faces."

The Athletic Club is already getting calls from people eager to set up a membership for the new year.

New Year's can be a great motivator, but also a lesson to many that some things are easier said than done.

Like most resolutions, people forget about exercise during the year,
leaving gyms to find new ways to keep their customers.

Delviscio said at Riverwalk, "We encourage people to use a personal trainer, to get programs set up so it helps keep them on track and keep that accountability."

Inspire Fitness in Vestal believes in group exercise.

Roger Adams, a doctor of nutrition said "There's a lot of studies that show that group fitness keeps people, highly motivated, you have less of a drop off with people with their resolutions."

Sarah Jordon, a member at Inspire Fitness added on group exercise, "You get to do it with your friends and family, and its more like a partnership.

Pool exercises are becoming more popular.

Riverwalk offers three aquatics classes.

Whatever your resolution, go luck on sticking with it, and remember, its always easier with a friend.
