Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The strawberries were back in Owego this weekend.

While the mood for the annual festival was celebratory, two Owego children were missing their dad this Father's Day weekend.

John Porcari and his sister enjoyed the festival Friday night and walked in Saturday's parade wearing pictures of their dad.

Their dad is Owego Fire Capt. Matthew Porcari, who died fighting a fire last January.

It's the first the children have been to the festival without him.

"It's unusual, just without my dad," John Porcari said. "It's pretty weird. If I think about something, I shed tears a little, but then I laugh a little at some memories we had, some funny ones."

John and his sister weren't the only ones remembering their dad.

For the first time, the Owego Hose Team hosted a memorial hose race at the festival.

It was one of many events the Owego community has held in honor of Capt. Porcari this year.
