Kirkwood, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Bowling becomes a lane for raising money in the fight against cancer.

A Relay for Life fundraiser for Team Ellie's Hope took over Sunset Lanes in Kirkwood Saturday night.

Team leaders Candy and Rick Woodward, brother and sister, hope to raise close to $10,000 this year for the American Cancer Society.

For the team, raising money for an event like Relay for Life shows how events like this can bring family and friends together.

"Not only did my aunt pass away, but my grandmother passed away a few years ago," Rick Woodward said. "So it means that much more to our whole family, and our whole family is involved in the benefit."

The next event for Team Ellie's Hope is scheduled for June 2 at Kirkwood River Park.

There will be live music and a car show.
