Delhi, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Delaware County Sheriff's Office found a SUNY Delhi student had been seriously injured before his car accident on Feb. 6.

Joshua N. Kaplan, 22, of Clifton Park was found unconscious and wearing a seatbelt inside the vehicle after it hit an embankment on County Highway 18 in the Town of Delhi.

Kaplan was airlifted from O'Connor Hospital to Albany Medical Center for treatment of a serious head injury.

A passenger in the vehicle, Andriana Senti, 20 of Port Crane, was not injured but also taken to O'Connor Hospital for evaluation.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office investigation found that Kaplan had a skull fracture and serious brain injury that caused him to lose control of his vehicle. Deputies said earlier in the evening, Kaplan's roommate had assaulted him at their residence in Delhi.

Jonathan Lora, 21, of Middletown was arrested and arraigned in Stamford Town Court on a charge of second degree assault. He was released on his own recognizance pending further court action
