Chenango, NY (WBNG Binghamton) They sell and repair personal computers. And now, Red Barn Computers in the Town of Chenango will help the United States government on a supercomputer.

Red Barn won a bid to help the Air Force construct a computer to use at its research facility in Rome, Oneida County. It will use 2 thousand Play Station 3 units together to build the computer.

The computer will have other uses for other branches of government, too.

"Its piloting a program where its basically going to analyze satellite imagery and mimic the human brain function in how it sees those objects and how it interprets and categorizes those objects," said Jon Layish of Red Barn Computers.

That will assist the Air Force in training for target recognition.

Red Barn employs 17 people on Upper Front Street. They will work together on assembling the computer.

It will be 100-thousand times faster than the ordinary computer.
