Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Town of Union officials take one more step toward flood recovery.

The board received and filed surveying bids Wednesday for flooded out homes in their buy back program.

Supervisor Rose Sotak said the board will select four companies for four areas: West Corners, Endwell, Fairmont Park and Westover.

Nearly 14 companies placed bids for each neighborhood with costs ranging between $300 and $2,000.

Sotak said every step they take is a step toward moving on for Union residents.

"It is very good news for all of our residents and especially our flood victims," Sotak said. "We want to get them relief. We want them to move on with their lives, so we are very happy."

Sotak said they will be notifying the chosen companies as soon as possible with a hope of beginning the surveying sometime during the next two weeks.

Two weeks ago, the town board selected companies to complete appraisals. The appraisers are already working, Sotak said.
