Suspect at Large in Jewelry Store Robbery

(WBNG Binghamton) The Broome County Sheriff's Office is looking for the man behind a jewelry store robbery that led to a bomb squad call.

Deputies say at approximately noon Friday, he walked into Ruby and Son's Jewelry on Upper Front Street in the town of Chenango and stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

According to witnesses, the man is described as nearly 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds. They also said he was light skinned and wearing a ski mask.

The Sheriff's Office is also investigating a suspicious bag found at a home on nearby Carmichael Road, which they believe is connected with the robbery.

Deputies say the robber was carrying the bag and dropped it in a front yard of a home. The area was evacuated, and Carmichael Road was shut down for several hours.

The incident remains under investigation.
