The Broome County Sheriff says his office is still waiting for autopsy results on the cause of death for David Fillers. Fillers, 21, was found dead Monday morning behind the Quality Inn in Vestal. Sheriff David Harder had no new information to release on Tuesday.
Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Town of Dickinson man rang in the New Year with friends in Binghamton Saturday night. His friends last heard from him early Saturday morning. Now, just more than 24 hours later he's found dead in a ditch behind a hotel in Vestal.
Broome County Sheriff's Deputies found David Fillers, 21, dead in a ditch, behind the Quality Inn in Vestal just after 5 a.m. Monday.
Investigators don't have a lot of answers, but here's what we do know.
Fillers was out in downtown Binghamton celebrating the new year with his friends Saturday night.
He was separated from them, but contacted them, letting him know he was okay.
When he didn't come home, family and friends reported the Town of Dickinson man missing at 7:30p.m. New Years Day.
Sheriff David Harder says there was some confusion while looking for Fillers.
"Detectives are working as we speak as usual interviewing numerous people just like in any kind of case. More details will follow tomorrow. They've been working since 5 o'clock this morning and are still working on it, maybe through the night," says Broome County Sheriff, David Harder.
Vestal Police, State Police, and the District Attorney's Office are helping the Sheriff's Office with the investigation.
