According to a report Tuesday from the Syracuse Post-Standard, U.S. probation officers in Syracuse have been fired or demoted in connection with the handling of the case of accused murder David Renz.

Renz, who stands accused of murdering a 47-year-old woman and sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl during a March incident in Clay, allegedly disabled the electronic monitoring bracelet attached to his ankle prior to the incident.

The Post-Standard report says the Syracuse probation office's electronic monitoring unit has been reorganized and retrained.
