Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Congressman Richard Hanna and local veterans sit down for lunch for Veterans Appreciation Day.

The American Legion Post 1700 hosted the luncheon and invited Congressman Richard Hanna (R).

After lunch with nearly a dozen veterans, Rep. Hanna went to Conklin to honor 92-year-old veteran, Bob Page. Hanna presented Page with a flag that was flown over the United States Capitol.

Rep. Hanna said this is his way of honoring veterans and it's something he frequently does, even paying for the flags out of his own pocket.

Rep. Hanna added that any sign of appreciation means a lot to these veterans.

"If you can do something, you see a veteran on the street, just thank them for their service," said Rep. Hanna.

"A lot of people are doing it to us older veterans, but we really need to be lifting up our younger veterans," said Joe Irons, a veteran of the Lebanon-Grenada War Era.

Veterans in attendance said a simple "thank you" means a lot to them.
