Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Health care and insurance professionals come together to talk about how to better understand how health care policies work.
The 11th annual Health Care Symposium on Health Care Management and Policy took place Saturday at Binghamton University.
Health care representatives, insurance representatives, non-profit organizations and local officials all spoke at the event.
The theme of the symposium was Health Care Reform: Retrospect and Prospect.
"While the public debates seem so negative on this subject. People in health care are really learning a lot about how to better coordinate care, how to use information technology, about how to engage patients," said Jim Tallon, President, United Hospital Fund, New York City and Eminent New York State Civic Leader.
Tallon was the symposium's Keynote Speaker. He says issues like cost, access and quality are long term issues and we need to focus on what's going on presently in the health care industry and how far the industry has come.
