Third area drowning death this week

Clymer, Twp., PA (WBNG Binghamton) Another person has died from drowning. It's the third drowning reported in the Twin Tiers in less than a week.

Pennsylvania State Police in Mansfield responded around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday to Beachwood Lake.

There, they said Rodney Cline, 76, of Westfield, Pa., drowned while swimming out to retrieve his boat, which had drifted away before he could secure it to a dock.

The Tioga County deputy coroner pronounced Cline dead at the scene.

On Monday Donald Shamus, 21, drowned when his kayak capsized in the Delaware River.

Also Monday Grant N. Housworth, 56, of Milford, was pulled from Goodyear Lake in Otsego County after his boat capsized when a thunderstorm moved through the area. He died Tuesday at Albany Medical Center.
