Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton Police are looking for suspects that committed multiple burglaries, all within one hour.

The first happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday, when police were called to a burglary in progress at a home on Matthews Street, near Leroy Street.

The man who lives there said he was woken up by three people dressed in black clothing in his bedroom. They were armed with a crow bar and a baseball bat, according to police.

At 5:21 a.m., police were called to Kendall Avenue, near Denton Road, for people rummaging through backyards, with same description as the first burglary.

At 6 a.m., police were called to a house on Jutland Road, where the homeowner was woken up by the suspects opening the door to his bedroom.

Police said they stole from the home, then fled the area.

The suspects got into the Matthews Street home through an unlocked door, and into the Jutland Road home through an unlocked first floor window, according to police.

Binghamton Police Chief Joseph Zikuski said he “cannot stress strongly enough that all residents lock their doors and secure all first floor windows before they retire for the night.”

Chief Zikuski also said to immediately call police if you see anything suspicious in your neighborhood.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Binghamton Police Detective Bureau at (607) 772-7080.
