Town of Norwich, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Investigators believe a desktop computer caused the fire that burned through a couple's home Thursday morning.

Chenango County Fire Investigators said the fire started in a guest bedroom. They believe it was caused by an electrical problem related to a desktop computer that was left on.

Firefighters were called to 2364 State Highway 8 at 9:17 a.m., according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

The home belongs to Roy and Vivian Mudge.

Their daughter, Virginia Delong, said her parents were at a hospital in Cooperstown for Roy's cancer treatment when they got the call.

This is the second time the couple has been forced out of their home by fire. The first time was in the early 2000s, according to Delong.

The American Red Cross is assisting the couple.
