Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Town of Union officials are looking closely at their proposed $18.3 million budget.

The preliminary budget proposes a 3.8 percent property tax increase inside the villages and a 2.7 percent tax increase outside the villages.

These are increases that Deputy Supervisor Rose Sotak wants to see drop.

"I mean, we're going line for line," said Sotak. "We're looking at every expense there is. And we're looking at needs versus wants."

Sotak said a $10.1 million federal grant will help maintain expenses and improve infrastructure damaged in last year's flood.

So far, Sotak said she is proud of the budget, keeping tax increases to a minimum.

The town's final budget is due November 19.
