Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Highland Park hosts one of the biggest 4th of July celebrations in Broome County.

The town of Union event will host 27 local vendors.

Highland Park has been hosting a 4th of July event for more than 20 years.

The activities begin at noon Thursday with a chicken barbecue sponsored by the Endwell Fire Department.

This year there will be a Child ID program that gives badges to all children at the park.

"That's going to run from 1-4 p.m., so that the children can come, get ID, you know in case they become lost or there's some kind of problem," said town of Union Supervisor, Rose Sotak.

The firework show kicks off at 9:30 p.m. sharp.

Sotak said the same town of Union resident has put on the show for the same price for the last 20 years.

The 30-minute firework show costs more than $19,000.

If the event is rained out on Thursday, it will be held on Friday.
