Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A large tree fell on a home Thursday on the city's west side.

It happened around 1 a.m. Thursday at 112 Laurel Ave. The homeowners were inside the house at the time.

NYSEG, Nelson Tree Company and representatives from Binghamton's Parks and Recreation Department were at the home Thursday morning.

The tree was trimmed recently, as a part of NYSEG's recent tree pruning on the city's west side, according to city spokesman Kyle Seeley.

Seeley said the tree was old -- between 50 and 65 years -- and not in good condition.

When Nelson Tree Company trimmed the tree a few weeks ago, there were structural issues with the tree they did not see, Seeley said. The tree was leaning toward the home.

It will be removed from the home and taken down Thursday. The damage to the home is not yet known.
