Trial dates set for double murder suspect

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Trial dates are set for Aaron Powell, the man accused of killing his estranged wife and her friend in March.

According to the Broome County district attorney's office, Powell is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on Feb. 18 at 1:30 p.m.

A trial is expected to begin on May 19.

Powell is accused of killing Christina Powell, 35, and her friend, Mario Masciarelli, 24, in Christina Powell's Lisa Lane home on March 22.

Members of the Broome County Sheriff's Office responded to the home to find the Christina Powell had been strangled and Masciarelli had suffered a blow to his head.

Aaron and Christina Powell were in the process of getting a divorce.

Powell remains in the Broome County jail without bail.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges in May 2013.
