Sidney, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A local State Police Commander will step down from his post at the end of the month.

Troop C Major Kevin Molinari will be retiring from the state police after 34 years of service.

He has been the commander of Troop C since 2006.

Molinari says he couldn't have imagined pursuing a career in anything other than public service.

He feels he has made an impact on many of the residents he has helped over the years.

"There have been a number of instances and events that I've been involved with where I feel like I've had a positive impact on someone's life and made a positive change for them," Molinari said.

Molinari's last day with Troop C will be Wednesday.

He says he plans to travel down to North Carolina soon where his two children are living.
