Town of Spencer, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Troopers accused the treasurer of the Spencer Volunteer Fire Department of stealing thousands of dollars.

On April 24, New York State Police arrested Jennifer Grier, 33, of the Town of Spencer.

Troopers said Grier began taking money from the Spencer Fire Department in 2011. She is accused of taking more than $3,000 for personal use.

Grier began working in the department in 2004.

Troopers charged her with grand larceny in the 3rd degree. The Tioga County District Attorney's Office issued her an appearance ticket.

She is scheduled to be back in court on May 14.

Troopers said the investigation is ongoing and more bank records are being obtained.

State Police did not provide a photo of Grier.
