Kirkwood, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Crews made quick work of an afternoon fire in Kirkwood.

State police responded to 41 Loughlin Road at approximately 2:15 Tuesday afternoon for reports of a mobile home fire.

Officials from the Five Mile Point Fire Department said troopers used fire extinguishers to help knock down the flames before fire crews arrived.

The fire was contained to the bathroom and left only minor smoke damage throughout the home.

No one was home at the time, but two cats were saved.

Conklin, Kirkwood and West Windsor fire departments also responded.

Extra crews were called in as a precaution because of the heat.
