Two dead after shooting in Pa.

Mansfield, PA (WBNG Binghamton) Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a homicide that left two people dead in Tioga County.

Police say an officer shot and killed Barry Lynn Mead, 51, Westfield, after Mead shot and killed Vicki Lynn Copp, 34, Westfield, Friday night.

According to police, Mead and Copp used to be romantically involved, but had separated.

Police say at approximately 7 p.m., Friday, Mead forced his way into Copp's apartment at 168 West Main St. in Westfield.

One of Copp's neighbors called 911.

A struggle between the two ensued inside the apartment.

Mead then headed into the bedroom, found a shotgun and loaded it, according to police.

As Copp tried to escape apartment, Mead shot her.

An officer from the Westfield Borough was already outside the apartment when the gun off went off.

The officer got inside and approached the staircase where he saw Mead at the top of the stairs with the weapon.

Mead fired the shotgun again and the officer told him to drop the weapon several times.

Mead didn't, and the officer fired and killed him.

Both Mead and Copp were pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy
Tioga County Coroner Lee Strange early Saturday morning.

Pennsylvania State Police, the Westfield Borough Police and the Tioga County District Attorney's Office is still investigating.
