Town of Union, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) United Health Services held its annual volunteer luncheon at Traditions at the Glen Wednesday.

Since April 21 to 27 is National Volunteer Week, UHS felt this was the perfect time to pay tribute and thank their volunteers for everything they do.

With more than 700 volunteers giving about 85-thousand hours of their time, they are an extremely important part of UHS.

"Their time equals about 40 fulltime employees, so just that welcoming person, that helping hand, getting a warm blanket for a patient who's cold, those little things make such a difference and the staff really appreciates an extra pair of hands," said Jeanne Carangelo, Manager for UHS Volunteer Services.

This year, one volunteer marked her 44th year as a UHS volunteer and another donated over 17-thousand hours of her time.
