Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Viewers of games, concerts or shows may be sitting a little more comfortably in the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

The arena debuted some of its newest improvements Wednesday afternoon.

It's part of a $2.5 million project to improve the infrastructure and safety of the building.

New seating has been installed throughout the arena, along with new LED lighting and new concession stands.

Officials say the lighting upgrades alone will save taxpayers up to $600,000 in energy costs over the next 10 years.

"We have updated our arena and we'll continue to update it. I think we have some other exciting surprises that's kind of old," Senator Thomas Libous said.

Future additions could mean a new scoreboard in the coming years.

A new marque, new dasherboard and glass system for hockey is expected to be installed in the coming months.
