Vacant building catches fire

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Binghamton Fire Department fought flames in a vacant building Tuesday morning.

The fire department was dispatched to 92 Henry St. around 3:55 a.m.

Assistant Fire Chief Mark Whalen said the three-story building was vacant.

The fire was contained to the basement, and firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire within five minutes.

Henry Street from Carol to Fayette was temporarily shut down while the fire department was on the scene for approximately an hour.

There were no injuries.

The Binghamton Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
