Vestal brothers arrested for firearms, explosives

Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Two Vestal brothers were arrested after a six month investigation into the illegal possession of firearms, as well as the manufacture of explosives.

On June 27, Vestal Police conducted three search warrants at these Vestal locations: 5 Rock Rd., 171 Rock Rd. and 1721 Vestal Rd.

William Barker, 20, of 5 Rock Rd. was arrested and charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Christopher Barker, 30, of 171 Rock Rd. was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, both felonies.

Vestal Police said more arrests and additional charges are anticipated.

The two Barkers were taken to the Broome County Jail to await further court action.

The investigation was a combined effort of both the Vestal Police Department and the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit.

The FBI, ATF, local Metro SWAT team and the Endicott Bomb Squad assisted in the searches.
