Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Law enforcement released new information on a string of break-ins happening along Vestal's Main Street and other parts of Broome County.

The Vestal Police Department and Broome County Sheriff's Office released information about the burglaries late last week. More information was released on Aug. 7 about another set of break-ins and similar incidents.

It's not yet known if they're related.

During the past week, five thefts and three burglaries have been reported.

The crimes have been reported in the area of Main Street, near Pierce Hill Road, and this week, East Circle Drive.

Law enforcement agencies have learned more about the description of the man who could be responsible for these incidents.

The man is reportedly a white male between the ages of 20 and 30 years old. He was reported as wearing a white knit hat, blue jeans and a flannel shirt.

According to Vestal Police, when he was approached by residents last week, he claimed to be an insurance appraiser scoping out homes.

Anyone with information about this man or incidents in the area is asked to contact the Vestal Police Department at 754-2477 or The Broome County Sheriff's Office at 778-1911.

Vestal Police said they're meeting with county investigators to work further in this investigation.
