Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Voters in Vestal Tuesday turned down their fire department's request for a new apparatus by fewer than 10 votes.

Tuesday's special election drew just 371 residents to the polls. At issue was whether the town could spend $800,000 on a new heavy rescue vehicle for the Vestal Fire Department.

The final tally Tuesday was 182-189 against, according to Town Clerk Emil Bielecki.
