Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) People lined the streets downtown to pay tribute to veterans past and present.

The Chenango Forks high school band led the parade down main street accompanied by the sons of the American Legion, a fleet of police cruisers, and of course many veterans themselves.

For them, today is a special day, where they are recognized for their uncompromising service.

"You know, as American Legion members, our motto is that we are veterans still serving. So we serve our community today and we served in the military in the past and we serve today to do what we can for our fellow veterans and help out the community in every way we can," said American Legion member Ross Woodrow.

Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan and Broome County Executive Debbie Preston also marched in the parade.
