Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) This weekend, the Goodwill Theatre will present Griffin Theatre's production of "Letters Home."
The show spotlights letters written by soldiers and their families.
"We're hoping that people come to hear this," said Naima Kradjian, CEO of Goodwill Theatre, "It's a very powerful piece about service men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan and the actual letters they have written and some of their family members have written."
The Southern Tier Veterans Support Group will be providing free tickets for veterans and their families.
Goodwill Theatre says the show's message is a way to allow those in the audience to better understand the experiences and emotions felt by returning vets from Iraq and Afghanistan leading up to Veterans Day next week.
"Almost every male in my family was a veteran of some war, and they didn't want to talk about it," said Kradjian, "My father didn't want to talk about it, my step father, my uncle. And they had profound experiences."
The production will be at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage.
There will be two performances, Saturday night at seven o'clock and Sunday afternoon at two.
A talk back with the actors will follow the Saturday performance.
