Violent assault puts Ithaca man on life support

Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Ithaca Police are investigating a violent assault on Chestnut Street that placed one man on life support.

Just after 12 a.m. on July 4, police were called to Cayuga Medical Center for a 25-year-old Ithaca man, who had been assaulted.

Police said he had been beaten up by at least three individuals and struck with a baseball bat multiple times, causing injuries to his head, neck and torso.

The assault happened on Chestnut Street in Ithaca, shortly before the hospital called police.

The victim was transferred to a regional trauma center. Police said he was in stable condition Friday morning.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Ithaca Police Department.
