Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Two Hundred middle and high school students arrive in Johnson City to spend the week fixing up houses in Binghamton.

Eighteen crews will begin work Tuesday morning painting and helping with other construction projects at twenty locations within the City of Binghamton.

They come from Tennessee, Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina and Pennsylvania and are working with the organization World Changers.

For 21 years it has sought to alleviate substandard housing.

This year 23,000 students are participating throughout the United States and Canada.

They each pay about $250 to help out for one week.

World Changers is part of the North American Mission Board and works with local churches and businesses.

The project in Binghamton is one of 95 projects in 87 cities this summer.
