WBNG brings home three NYSBA awards

Lake George, NY (WBNG Binghamton) WBNG-TV is recognized by the New York State Broadcaster's Association as best in the state among similar sized stations in three categories Monday at the Sagamore Hotel in Lake George.

Both news awards went to Matt Porter. The first, Best Hard News Story, recognized his series of reports on the Kurylo family, whose fight to save their family home from Broome County foreclosure auction ended with a change in the county's rules. The second, Best Feature News Story, told the story of two men who reunited more than 60 years after serving together in the Navy. They are believed to the last surviving members of the U.S.S. LSM-32.

WBNG-TV's creative services was also recognized by NYSBA for Outstanding Promotion Announcement or Series.

“Congratulations to WBNG-TV for receiving Excellence in Broadcasting Awards,” said NYSBA President David Donovan. “This prestigious honor celebrates stations that provide good stewardship and excellent service to their communities. We admire and commend their effort to serve the public interest.”
