Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) After a year of fundraising, designing and building, Mom's House in Johnson City finally has a place to call home.

Mom's House is a non-profit, New York State licensed child care center. They care for children of low-income single parents who are in school full-time.

Last September, Mom's House was devastated by flood waters and it took a full year to raise the $500,000 necessary for a new center, a center made possible by individual donations and FEMA.

"We have a whole new second level and that great thing about that is two fold," said Executive Director Laura Bowen. "One, we were able to put in a multi-purpose room slash indoor play area, we didn't have that before. The second level now houses the mechanical room, so we are flood proofing all the mechanics to the building."

On Oct. 27, Mom's House will be hosting their "Solution of Hope" banquet to celebrate 24 years of service to the community.
