Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) As we welcome in the new year, one couple from Cincinnatus is welcoming a new addition to their family.
A little before 3 a.m. on New Year's Day, the world welcomed Ryan Victor Stickle.
He's the new son to Jennifer Dingman and Adam Stickle.
"It's hard, but I don't know, it's an unexplainable experience," said Dingman.
The five pound, 18-inch boy is the first baby born in our area in 2014.
"I said I couldn't do it about five times and I wanted them to cut him out and they told me I could do it, I could do it," Dingman said.
While most were getting ready to close the books on 2013, the couple was preparing to start the newest chapter of their lives.
"Got a new years resolution here to try to take care of him and do the best, better than ourselves, our family," Stickle said.
Stickle said they made it to the Lourdes Hospital late New Year's Eve from their hometown of Cincinnatus. They passed fireworks as they drove down I-81.
The name Ryan has a special meaning for Stickle.
The baby is named after a childhood friend who died when they were just kids.
"He was a very close friend of mine and we spent, I don't know, from seven or 8-years-old up until the time he passed away," Stickle said.
Dingman is still exhausted from the six hour labor, but said she can't wait to take home her son on Friday.
"It's unexplainable," said Dingman. "If you've been a mom, then you know, but it's unexplainable."
The baby was also born on the couples two year anniversary.
Stickle said he hopes his son will live a long and happy life.
