Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Johnson City woman died during surgery for brain injuries sustained when she was hit by a tow truck.

Jane Jones, 61, died at Wilson Hospital.

Binghamton police said at approximately 8:45 a.m. Monday, Jones crossed Front Street, but she was not at a cross walk.

She was hit by a USave tow truck turning left onto Front Street from the Broome County Health Department.

Dustin Riley, 22, of Binghamton was behind the wheel.

Binghamton police said Riley did not see Jones before he began to make the turn. The truck's windshield was then hit by a can, which caused Riley to pull over. He then saw Jones in the middle of the road, and called 911, according to the accident report.

Police determined Riley was not at fault.
