Monroe, PA (WBNG Binghamton) Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a fatal head-on collision in Monroe Township.

It happened Friday afternoon.

Police say Richard Leighton, 69, of Towanda failed to yield when turning left onto Brocktown Road from State Route 220. As a result, Leighton’s vehicle collided head-on with that of Rosemary Manuel, 66, of Dushore.

Manuel was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital where she died from her injuries. Leighton was taken to the same hospital by ambulance. He was treated for moderate injuries.

Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash. Leighton was charged with failing to yield. Additional charges could be coming.
