Woman steals $13,000 from PA dental office, police say

Pennsylvania State Police say an employee of a dentist office in Jefferson, PA has walked away with thousands of dollars. 

58-year-old Sharon Swartz was the office manager of the Scrimalli/Ratchford/Hanyon dental offices in Jefferson, PA. She is accused of cashing insurance checks and keeping the money for herself since 2006.  Police say the value of those checks exceed $13,000.

Swartz worked at the office for 14 years.

Swartz's charges include forgery, theft by deception, and receiving stolen property. She was arraigned and released on $30,000 bail.  She will have a preliminary hearing February 8, 2012.
