Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) In November of last year, Action News first brought you the story of the young Matthew Robert Craig, a boy battling hypoplastic left heart syndrome and cerebral palsy.

Action News has now learned that the 6-year-old Craig has passed away.

Action News first met Craig when "A Room to Heal" gathered volunteers to give him a space where he could get acclimated with his new wheelchair. We were also there as volunteers built him a new wheelchair ramp over the summer.

According to Maine-Endwell school officials, his mother continues battling cancer.

A benefit had already been scheduled for the Craig Family.

That will still take place Dec. 10 at Homer Brink Elementary from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

M-E officials said a fund has also been set up at the M & T Bank in Endwell.

Checks can be made out to "The Craig Family Benefit Fund."
