(WBNG Binghamton) The Broome County Sheriff's Office handed out 21 traffic violation tickets on Saturday evening, during a four-hour seat belt checkpoint.

Deputies held the initiative as part of the “Buckle Up New York” – “Click It or Ticket” campaign.

Deputies conducted checkpoints at two different locations near the Pennsylvania border; one on State Route 11 in the Town of Kirkwood and one on State Route 7 in the Town of Conklin.

The border-to-border checkpoint practiced zero tolerance on seat belt laws.

As a result of the checkpoints, members of the Sheriff’s Office issued 21 tickets for the following violations:

Not restrained by seat belt: 5
Uninspected motor vehicle: 11
No/ inadequate lamps: 2
Unregistered motor vehicle: 1
No/ improper signal: 1
Speeding: 1

The “Buckle Up New York” – “Click It or Ticket” campaign will run through June 1.
