Lucile I. Leahy, 90, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 24, 2009. She is reunited with her loving husband, Ainsworth “Blackie” Leahy who predeceased her May 2006. Predeceased also by her parents George and Lula Root, brother (Harold) and sisters (Leona, Geraldine (Gege) and Georgia). She was born in Elmira, NY. Lucile was co-owner of Leahy’s Home Fair in West Elmira and retired to Florida in 1982. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Dokuchitz of Juno Beach, FL., Sandra (Ron) King of Gay, GA., Helen (Jerry) Rosplock of Endicott, NY, Kay Carmody of Stamford, CT; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Sun and Star Units at Hilltop campus of United Methodist Homes for the wonderful care and compassion that was show to “Lucy” during her stay there.

A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 11:00am at St. Anthony of Padua, 306 Odell Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760. Charitable donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central NY or Charity of one’s choice. Caring assistance is being provided by Barber Memorial Home, Inc.
