Anna E. Durgala, 94, of Johnson City, died on Friday, March 13, 2009, at her home. She was predeceased by husband, Walter Durgala, parents, Arlene and Clyde Fuller, brother, Floyd Fuller (wife Wilma), sister, Louise Tisch (husband Charles), and great-great-grandchild, Tony Cianciosi. She is survived by her brother, Cecil Fuller (wife Marion), Port Crane; daughter, Sharon Cutusso (husband George), Johnson City; sons, Thomas Durgala (wife Betty), Johnson City, Norman Durgala, Greenville, NC; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

As a young woman Anna worked in a five & ten cent store in Johnson City. During World War II she worked in the Remington Rand war plant in Westover. Later, she worked in the sewing room at Wilson Memorial Hospital and then in the ICU as a cleaning lady until she retired. Anna enjoyed producing food for her family. This endeavor included gardening, raising cows, pigs, ducks, geese and chickens. She made her own butter, cottage cheese and ice cream. She canned vegetables and berries from the garden. Added to the above she enjoyed sewing and made some of our clothes, curtains for the house and bed linens for us to sleep on. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice for their loving care.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main St., Johnson City. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at 6 p.m. until the time of the service. Donations in her memory may be made to the Parkinson ’s Disease Foundation.
